For example, what this company does for society and which services prepare for people (Social Responsibility). In the end, I will write my opinion about this company and recommendations.

Agility logistics:

It is one of the most famous companies spread around the word. The beginning of this company was small and didn’t have activities. In 1974 was the beginning in Kuwait. During this time there were many challenges. There were many difficulties, especially all people and many companies lived and worked without services and facilities. They have strategies for a long time. The company pursued an aggressive merger strategy from 2004-2008.Nowdays Agility logistics is one of the world’s leading providers of integrated logistics with more than 22,000 employees in over 550 offices and 100 countries. Also they have a branch in the UAE especially in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. They have 3 goals. They are planning to be the leader of logistics around the world. The second aim is to try to make trade easy without any challenges. The last their vision, it is integrity, personal ownership, teamwork and excellence. The result of their ambitions make the success for this company that stretches around the world. The success of any company depends on customer satisfaction and this happens with Agility logistics.
It  Is the management of mean support, the supply chain, to provide transportation, inventories, warehousing, material handling, and packaging, and often security for people or companies for they what their need.

This has three jobs. For example, Freight Forwarding, logistics Solutions and Specialty Businesses. All this is one location controlled by headquarters in Switzerland them. Freight forwarding products include: air, sea freight and road freight. They have flexible and professional services in freight, air and sea. In addition, Agility sea and air Freight takes care with attention to earn your trust. Sometimes you don’t need to freight by sea or air if you want delivery to some countries. So the easy ways will be road freight. In Agility road freight specialists know the key to a successful supply chain is a committed relationship with their customer. Agility provides services of standard freight management which balance urgency and cost-effectiveness by lowest price. This will attract all companies to sign of contracts with Agility.
Second, logistics capabilities: warehousing , distribution, systems and technology. Also, they have specialty services. For example, fairs, events logistics, chemicals logistics, project logistics and fuel logistics. There is logistics collaboration with Tristar. Established in 1998 and headquartered in the United Arab Emirates Tristar operates in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
The most important thing for any company is it must have alternative services. This mean Agility logistics have many services for ministries of defense. Agility provides complete supply chain management, logistics services and commodity services to defense and government customers. This service is in more than 550 offices in 100 countries. Therefore they provider to governments and international organizations around the world. There are many of them .Such as real estate inspection & control services.Nowdays the most important the defense in any country .So Agility logistics prepare national aviation services and global clearinghouse systems.

What’s this CSR?

Corporate social responsibility. The goal of CSR is take to responsibility for the companies facing social issues. For example, activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities and stakeholders. It is necessary for companies or ministries to have CSR for many reasons. First, to giving back to the homeland. Second, to help people and society by providing and supporting everything. In this part, I will write some of CSR for Agility logistics."Giving back is core to our culture. Employees at all levels take participation in our global social responsibility agenda seriously and personally"- Mariam Al-Foudery Vice President, Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility. One of the CSR that Agility logistics prepare is disaster relief. They have capabilities readily adaptable to crisis situations stemming from natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes and tsunamis. Recently, some countries depend on nuclear resources. Also, it is income for any countries. In this way Agility keeps up with this new resource by experience in sustainability. Their work is focused on. Green supply chains, energy efficiency :achieved by preserving natural resources and reducing greenhouse gases, waste management: which keeps the environment clean and they can recycle what is needed.

Research Project

The Berlin Wall

In this assignment, I will write about one of the famous landmarks. It is The Berlin Wall. There are many landmarks around the world, for example, the Great Wall of China, The Tower of Pisa and The Taj Mahal. The Soviet government of East Germany, the German Democratic Republic, built the Berlin Wall to block their section of East Berlin from West Berlin because they saw many people emigrating from Soviet east to west. Maybe it was planning to waken Germany because it was strong country. Also, because of dissatisfaction with the economic and political conditions many people had to suffer under repressions of the communist system or wanted to live a better life in the West. The result for this wall made racism between the people in Berlin and many people migrated to outside Berlin.Early in the morning of Sunday, August 13, 1961, the GDR began under the leadership of Erich Honecker, to block off East Berlin and the GDR from West Berlin by use of barbed wire and antitank obstacles. However, barricades of paving stones were erected. The wall was between East and West Berlin. First barbed wire was used on August 15, 1961. The Wall was built up and, until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the Wall system was extended permanently. Actually there is no exact cost but the wall was 155km long and this mean it cost too much. On the 9th of November, 1989, the Border separating Western from Eastern Germany was effectively opened.

The wall consisted of concrete elements and square blocks. Concrete segment wall height was 3.6m.The materials came from Germany because it was strong economically. They had a problem when they wanted to crack because the wall was long and high.East German troops and workers had begun to tear up streets and to install barbed wire entanglement and fences through Berlin. Also there were many guard towers along all the wall. In addition minefields and other obstacles were installed along the length of East Germany's western border with West Germany proper. The subway and local railway services between East and West Berlin were interrupted. Tanks gathered at crucial places. The border cut through 192 streets.Erich Honeker, a senior East German politician who later became the country’s leader was the designer of the wall. The idea was endorsed by Khrushchev, leader of the USSR at the time (1961). The labor forces were German. The loss was disproportionately heavy. The most important problem was German society who held demonstrations to protest the construction of the wall. The wall divided many families, while it forced East Berlin residents working in the West out of their jobs. It was difficult for the community to live with this situation.

The Berlin Wall is a very important part of Berlin history. Actually, the Berlin Wall was important since it symbolized the lot of East Germany. In addition the wall was important because it would keep away all trade between East and West Germany. It showed that people didn't want to live in East Germany and the government put the Berlin Wall to prevent people from crossing into West Germany. The wall was to prevent the outflow of skilled manpower to West Germany. I think the wall affected on the economics of Germany because it was a block and prevented the people from moving and the result was they lost too many skilled workers in these years. For 28 years the Berlin Wall separated friends and families. The collapse of the Wall was an even greater surprise than its construction. People were in shock when the borders were really open. All families and friends met again. After the war Germany was divided into British, French, American and Russian zones. The British, French and American united into one zone therefore Germany because two countries East and West Germany.  Similarly Berlin became a divided city, after 1961 divided by the wall

Youths puts skills ahead of money

Youths puts skills ahead of money

I will write in this mini report about youths&vacancies. The message was they focus on the skills over salaries.  Although the skills are very important the salary is the most important. From young people who attended the Emirati Youth Forum 30% of students said they will take opportunity for growth and promotion to be the most important. The growth and promotion include growth in the job. For example, step by step until where they decide to be so this is related for their planning when they find job.
Nowadays, the fresh graduates prefer working in the government sector because all faculties and promotion available are better than the private sector. ‘’ Employers tell me they can't hire Emiratis because they can't give them the salaries and working hours they demand. Hopefully this will prove them wrong’’, said Sulaf Saleh Al Zu'bi, the chief executive of INJAZ UAE. Recently, the government made planning which called Emiratisation  to increase the number of Emiratis in the private sector held on  Summit in Abu Dhabi to educate and make aware the people about the importance of the private sector and encourage them to join in it . Also, there are many strategies such as Tawdheef Recruitment Show. This showed many Vacancies in both sectors.
Unfortunately, there is no balance between the public and private sector and this will not motivate the Emirati youth to work in the private sector. Working hours are very long in the private sectors and this is one of the reasons. I hope everybody and all sectors unit to solve this problem.

Report About Falconers

Report About Falconers

I will write in this report about falconers and the target for breeding Asian Houbara which was exceeded. The International Fund for Houbara Conservation (IFHC) bred 13,105 young houbara and this will keep the species alive. Also, they want to keep the wild population. There are two centres outside the UAE where chicks are bred in Morocco and Kazakhstan.
Falcons must be trained to hunt houbara. This sport spread very fast in the GCC. Although, it’s prohibited some people are doing it and some people are overhunting in some places. They are using weapons to hunt. ‘’ We have to educate people and give them advice before they think like this’’ said Mr Al Baidani.
The best place to see everything about falcons and hunting is the hunting exhibition which is located in Abu Dhabi. In the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition . During this event the IFHC distributed surveys for hunters and falconers to know and measure how many houbara birds will be needed to be bred. The big issue about the black market is nobody knows from where these come houbara or who is selling and buying them. Also this exhibition is a chance for all ages to take knowledge about animals, hunting equipment and lectures.

New pearl Museum opens in RAK

New pearl Museum opens in RAK

In this summary, I will write about pearls and the pearl museum. In the past the life was hard so the people were working to get something to live. The most dangerous job was diving to try to get pearls. The divers used many tools in their journey such as ‘Al Kabt (  finger gloves), nose clips and white cotton diver suits. Also, they had rubbed oil all over their bodies to protect their bodies form illness, blindness and deafness.’’ Who doesn’t have the past, doesn’t have the future’’ said Sheikh Zayed. Form this idiom we have to keep our job and tradition as before.

There are many types of pearl. For example, Bint Al Matar daughter of the rain. The second type is called Bint Al Qamar which means daughter of moon. Recently the pearl Museume opened in RAK, where you can see the precious pearls in different shapes, sizes and colours. RAK was the capital of pearl trading. In 1930,the pearling industry came down because of the Japanese invention of cultured pearl. This fate did not stop Emirati women using natural pearls and they have many names, such as Dana, Hessa and Moza.

On the second floor, there are the most famous pearls around the world. There is some information showing us how to distinguish natural and cultured pearl. There are small and large, white, beige and black. China and Japan have 95%of the world total production of freshwater pearls.

First reflective statement

First Reflective Statement

This course is an academic reading and writing course. It will help us to improve our skills in reading and writing. Also it includes a final project and profile. About the final project, it will consist of an essay 700-800 words on a topic we will choose with the teacher. In portfolios, it should be all practice summaries and handouts.

The first week, I made a blog for myself and I posted one writing about the Hajj. I learnt how I can summarize many long paragraphs to a short passage. This is what I did in the topic on the Hajj. I learnt much vocabulary about how the UK can cope with solar superstorms. This is one paragraph with a summary and we will write a summary next class.

My goals from this course: I will work hard and I will learn from small information. I  have to do all duties on time. Learn from my mistakes. I expect I will improve my skills in writing and reading. I will do my best.

Mr.Hedley was my teacher in 2007. He is from the UK. He had many experiences teaching and education. He was in England, KSA, Qatar and Brunei. He has many interests such as rugby, squash and tennis. I will be thankful for everything he gives us.

The Hajj

The Hajj

It’s the most important pillar in our religion. This is one of the five pillars of Islam. Every year all Muslims around the world go to Mecca in KSA. Also, all Muslims wear pilgrims clothes white robes called the ihram. The pilgrimage begins on the eight h day of Dhul Hijjah. Each day, when we are praying our face must be directed to Ka’aba. Also, in Mecca all Muslims must do the same. Although, it is very crowded we must be careful. The Ka’aba was built by Abraham and his son Ishmail. The pilgrims must take inoculation two weeks before the hajj. When they arrive they should stay in the hotels, hostels and tents. The rituals start before entering Mecca ,all pilgrims change their clothes to white dress and cut their nails. Women wear white long robes. After that they have to do Twawaf seven times around the Ka’aba , then they go to safa and Marwah seven times also. At night, pilgrims travel to Mina. In the morning they travel to Arafat. In the evening, they travel to Muzdalifah where they have to camp. Next day, back to mina to throw seven pebbles at each of the three statues at the Jamraat. This is Eid-Al Adha for all Muslims. The back to Mecca to do Twawaf and then return to Mina. Finally, they can go back to their homes.
